People at risk of exposure to mpox are recommended to receive mpox vaccine

Gay, bisexual or other men who have sex with men (GBMSM)

Primary vaccination with mpox vaccine is recommended for GBMSM, including transgender and gender-diverse people. 

Sex workers

Primary vaccination with mpox vaccine is recommended for sex workers, particularly those whose clients may be at risk of mpox exposure.

People with HIV

Primary vaccination with mpox vaccine is recommended for people with HIV or other causes of immune suppression, if they report risk of exposure to mpox. Particular consideration should be given to those with known CD4 count <200 cells/mm³.

Other individuals whose sexual networks might include GBMSM

Primary vaccination with mpox vaccine is recommended for any other people who may be involved in the sexual networks of GBMSM, including transgender and gender-diverse people.

Booster doses

Currently, there is insufficient evidence to support a recommendation for a booster dose of the MVA-BN mpox vaccine for people who are fully vaccinated (that is, people who have had 2 doses administered at least 28 days apart), including those who are severely immunocompromised.
