Pooled or hyperimmune immunoglobulins

Not routinely recommended. Susceptible pregnant women exposed to the following can receive post-exposure immunoglobulin:

  • measles virus
  • hepatitis A virus
  • hepatitis B virus
  • rabies virus or Australian bat lyssavirus
  • varicella virus
  • tetanus

Limited data are available. There is no known risk to the fetus from passive immunisation of pregnant women with immunoglobulins. For more details, see Passive immunisation and the relevant disease-specific chapters in this Handbook.
