The Australian Immunisation Handbook provides clinical advice for health professionals on the safest and most effective use of vaccines in their practice.
These recommendations are developed by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) and approved by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).

Public consultations
The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation consults with stakeholders on proposed changes to vaccination recommendations for inclusion in the Australian Immunisation Handbook. All parties are welcome to make a submission on draft recommendation/s.

Publication approval
The guideline recommendations were approved by the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) on 4 May 2022. For additional information see About the Handbook.

National Immunisation Program
The National Immunisation Program (NIP) was set up by the Commonwealth and state and territory governments in 1997. It aims to increase national immunisation coverage to reduce the number of cases of diseases that are preventable by vaccination in Australia.
